Resources in Evony: A Comprehensive Guide
In our previous tutorials, we covered topics like how to get Free Bubbles, the basics of Troops, and an introduction to Generals and how to use them. In this guide, we’ll dive into Resources (commonly called RSS), exploring what they are, how they’re used, and the best ways to gather them efficiently.
Types of Resources (RSS) in Evony
Evony has six main types of resources:
- Food
- Wood
- Stone
- Iron
- Gems
- Gold
Among these, Gems and Gold cannot be stolen by other players. However, the first four (Food, Wood, Stone, and Iron) can be looted when you lose a PvP battle. This is why we always emphasize the importance of using a "Bubble" (Truce Agreement) to protect yourself when playing Evony.
How to Gather Gems
Gems are the most valuable resource in Evony, and there are several ways to gather them:
- Earn gems through events and challenges
- Collect free gems from your Wall at specific times of the day
- Use the Share feature during Events to receive 50 gems and a small speed-up daily
- Gather gems in mines, though this method is slow and inefficient
- Complete Relic Slate Puzzles in Relics, which can earn you thousands of gems per day
- Spin the Wheel of Fortune in the Tavern
- Complete your daily Monarch challenge
Be cautious when spending Gems—avoid using them on speed-ups unless you have a flexible budget. Proper gem management is key to long-term success in Evony.
How to Gather Gold
Gold is essential for research and upgrading generals and gear. The best ways to gather gold include:
- Participate in the 3-day Vikings event held weekly
- Sell unneeded generals
- Hunt down Golden Goblins for extra gold
Gathering Food, Wood, Stone, and Iron
Food, Wood, Stone, and Iron are vital for constructing buildings, training troops, and healing your forces. These are the resources you’ll spend the most time collecting, as nearly every task in the game requires them.
For active players who spend a few hours playing each day, the best way to gather resources is by joining rallies and defeating Boss Monsters. If you’re a more casual player, or while you're offline, resources are best gathered from your farms inside your Keep and the farms outside of it.
Using Gathering Generals
To boost your resource collection, use gathering generals like Queen Jindeok, Constance I, Lucy, Gaius Marius, and others with gathering buffs. Equipping your gathering generals with specific gear can also enhance your gathering speed and the amount of resources you collect. As we’ve mentioned before, each general has a specific role, so it’s important to use them correctly for maximum efficiency.
Resource Farms in Your Keep
RSS can also be gathered from the farms located between your Archer Towers and your Wall. The number and type of farms you build should depend on your style of play.
Pro Tip:
Before logging off or going to sleep, send all of your troops out to gather resources. This ensures they are actively working while you’re away.
Open RSS vs. Closed RSS
There are two types of RSS in Evony:
- Open RSS: These resources are displayed in white numbers at the top of your screen. Open RSS can be looted by other players if you are attacked and lose. Try to keep these numbers below your warehouse’s capacity to avoid losing them.
- Closed RSS: These are resource boxes stored in your Items menu. Closed RSS cannot be stolen, and you can open them as needed to use for troop training, building upgrades, and more.
Managing Food:
A common question is whether you should keep Food open to feed your troops. The answer is no—let your troops starve! It won’t harm them in any way, and leaving open Food will simply cause it to be consumed by your troops without any real benefit. Moreover, having large amounts of open Food makes you a target for enemy attacks, as scouts can’t see Closed RSS but can see all of your open resources.
Conclusion
Proper resource management is essential for success in Evony. Whether you’re actively gathering, using gathering generals, or managing open and closed RSS, making smart decisions about your resources will help you grow and thrive in the game. Follow these tips to maximize your efficiency and keep your city safe from attacks.
